While utilizing AI method for protection of wild life and forest has been planned now in order to curb wildlife’s poaching the State Wildlife Organization has decided to go for sniffer dogs in the wildlife zones.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden Sushant Nanda has decided to deploy sniffer dogs in Similipal, Satkosia, Athagarh, Debrigarh, and Hindol wildlife divisions in Odisha.
Main idea is to contain poaching of wildlife and State Wildlife Organization has chalked out a strategy for the same, said sources.
Once roped in sniffer dogs will be imparted training to detect and nab the poachers, who are trying to sneak in the deep jungles and kill the wild animals.
State Wildlife Organization will be floating Global Tender to procure the sniffer dogs and provide training to them.
Shri Nanda and his Team is engaged in chalking out strategy for the innovative move and National and international organizations of repute will be involved in providing the dogs and training them.
This initiative is expected to boost the state’s efforts to combat wildlife poaching and protect its rich biodiversity, said an ace naturalist.
