SLMC For ‘Ek Ped Ma’ Ke Naam’

Bhubaneswar: A meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee (SLMC) was held today to discuss the detailed guidelines prepared for the protection, survival, and healthy growth of tree plantations under the “Ek Ped Ma’ Ke Naam” 2.0 Program Campaign.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, who stated that the success of Ek Peed Ma’ Ke Naam 2.0 depends on the survival and growth of the saplings. As per the guidelines, all government bodies must take care for the protection, survival, and healthy growth of the tree plantations.

The meeting took place, a month after the massive tree plantation drive. Following the plantation, joint guidelines were issued on 22nd September 2025 to ensure strong monitoring and accountability through a three-tiered mechanism.

These guidelines were discussed in detail, and a demonstration of the ORSAC based monitoring web portal was conducted. The portal will serve as a single platform to monitor tree survival. A training program will be organized for field officers in the coming days to facilitate its effective use.

The Additional Chief Secretary expressed gratitude for the coordinated efforts and active participation of all the districts and departments. He reiterated that the success of the “Ek Peda Ma’ Ke Naam 2.0” campaign lies not only in planting trees, but also in ensuring the uninterrupted existence and healthy growth of each tree.

The meeting was attended by all the District Collectors, Divisional Forest Officers (DFOs), and Chief Development Officers, including the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Service, Principal Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department, senior officers of Agriculture, Panchayati Raj, Horticulture, and Odisha Remote Sensing Application Centre (ORSAC).
