New Delhi: National Rifle Association of India President Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has hailed the upcoming Shooting League of India as a revolutionary step for the sport in the country.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with DD India Sports, Shri Singh Deo emphasized that the league is designed to be a game changer, transforming shooting into a more viewer friendly and commercially viable spectacle while providing a high stakes platform for the nation’s young talent.

According to Shri Singh Deo, the primary objective of the league is to bridge the gap between traditional Olympic formats and modern broadcasting needs. He noted that while Indian shooters have consistently brought glory to the nation on the global stage, the sport has often remained under the radar for the average viewer.

The league aims to change this by introducing a faster, more engaging format focused on mixed team finals, which will highlight the intense pressure and precision of the athletes.

The NRAI President highlighted the significance of the league for grassroots development. By including mandatory spots for junior and youth shooters in every franchise, the league ensures that emerging talent gets the opportunity to compete alongside world class international stars.

Shri Singh Deo believes this exposure will be invaluable in building the confidence of young marksmen, preparing them for the rigors of international competition and the pressure of the Olympic Games.

Beyond the competitive aspect, the league is set to leverage cutting edge technology to enhance the audience experience. Shri Singh Deo discussed plans to use data analytics, biometric sensors, and immersive graphics to give viewers a deeper insight into a shooter’s performance, such as tracking heart rates and trigger release timing. This tech driven approach is intended to make the sport as relatable and exciting as other major professional leagues.

The inaugural season of the Shooting League of India is scheduled to take place in February 2026 at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi. With multiple city based franchises already coming on board and over 70 international shooters expressing interest, the league is poised to mark the beginning of a golden era for Indian shooting.

Shri Singh Deo concluded by stating that making the sport self sustainable through private investment and brand visibility is essential for the long term growth of the Indian shooting fraternity.
