SLBC Reviews Banking Performance

Bhubaneswar: Banking Institutions across Odisha have been called upon to accelerate credit deployment and expand their reach in unserved rural regions following the 184th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting held in Bhubaneswar.

Chaired by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Shri Deoranajan Kumar Singh, the high-level review evaluated the performance of commercial and cooperative banks for the period ending June 2026, establishing a strategic financial roadmap aligned with the Samruddha Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047 frameworks.

Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra ; Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Government of India, Smt. Shalini Pandit graced the occasion.

Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Shri Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra highlighted the important role of banks in the effective implementation of major welfare schemes of the Central and State Governments. Detailed discussions were held on the Annual Credit Plan for 2026-27, with particular focus on Agriculture & Allied, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and other priority sectors.

Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Government of India, Smt. Shalini Pandit emphasised the need to improve the State’s Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio to bring it to at par with national average. She also appreciated the successful implementation of the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) in the State.

A central focus of the proceedings was boosting the state’s Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio to align with the national average, alongside driving institutional financing under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for 2026-27. Government officials and financial leaders reviewed core priorities, including direct credit lines for Agriculture & Allied activities, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and women entrepreneurs transitioning from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to formal small-scale business enterprises.

The meeting was attended by senior leadership from UCO Bank (the SLBC convener bank), the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD, the Department of Financial Services (Government of India), and administrators from state departments including Agriculture, MSME, and Mission Shakti.
