Skating Gains Popularity

Bhubaneswar: The 11th Odisha State Roller Skating Championship 2024 which was held at the Iconic Kalinga Stadium on 2-3 November witnessed an exhilarating display of the talents, determination as well as sportsmanship of participants across the state.

The event was organized by the Skating Association of Odisha (SAO). Skaters from different districts e.g. Sambalpur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Khorda, Dhenkanal, Puri, Ganjam, Koraput, Kendujhar, Sundergarh, Bargarh, Sonepur etc. competed fiercely for top honors.

 The championship featured various categories and age groups showcasing the best of Odisha’s Roller skating talents. Over two days, spectators were treated to thrilling races, innovative tricks, and a vibrant showcase of skills from both experienced skaters and budding talents, making the event a resounding success.

Chief Guest, Naba Ranjan Pattnaik, President, Veteran Football Player Association with Guest of Honour, Pradyumna Keshari Praharaj, State coordinator-World Human Rights Protection Organization & Chairman – Leora Foundation emphasized the importance of sports in youth development stating that “Event like this not only cultivates athletic skills but also encourages the values of teamwork, discipline and perseverance in our young athletes.”

Key highlights from the championship included – breath-taking races in the speed skating categories. Notable performances were delivered by skaters from all the participant districts, who clinched several medals, highlighting the competitive spirit prevalent in these regions.

The championship concluded with an awards ceremony where the top performers were recognized and rewarded. Prizes were awarded for various categories encouraging participants to aim higher in future competitions.
