Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman called upon the Chartered Accountants’ fraternity to make itself familiar with new technologies and global developments like Carbon Accounting and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) norms.
Shrimati Sitharaman was addressing National CA Conference here organized by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s (ICAI) Bhubaneswar Branch.
She said that CAs in India will be Global Leaders, if they adopt new technology and emerging practices across the world. Shrimati Sitharaman lauded the role of Chartered Accountants as partenrs of developing economy.

Eminent Chartered Accountant Rajib Sekhar Sahoo, Chairman Conference Organizing Committee organized a “Splendid” Conference, which was hailed by Union Minister finance, Shrimati Sitharaman.
Noting that India’s economy is driven by start-ups, new-age industries, and those transitioning from traditional methods to modern approaches, Union Minister Finance said, adding such activities require the support of CAs.
The National Conference brought together around approximately 1,500 chartered accountants from various parts of the country, and abroad creating an engaging platform for knowledge sharing and professional development.
ICAI President Aniket Sunil Talati, Vice President Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Chairman CPE Committee, ICAI Purushottamlal H Khandelwal spoke in the Meeting.
Rajib Sekhar Sahoo, Chairman Conference Organizing Committee lauded the GST Regime for which the Country has been benefitted in a big way.
Shri Sahoo is known for his knowledge on Direct and Indirect Taxes and he spoke at length on handholding support for Start Up and MSME Sector in the State and country.
The Theme of this Conference is “Possibilities for CA Profession in Digital Era”. Minister Finance and Corporate Affairs lauded the ‘Theme’ and urged to deliberate in details on the issues.
The National Conference will feature a diverse range of topics covering various aspects of the accounting and finance profession.
Shrimati Sitharaman arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day visit to Odisha on Wednesday evening and after attending the National CA Conference, she left for New Delhi, said sources.
