Bhubaneswar: In a transformative structural shift within the upper echelons of the Odisha Bureaucracy, Shri Deoranjan Kumar Singh, a senior officer of the 1993 Indian Administrative Service batch, has officially assumed the office of Development Commissioner.
This critical elevation occurs as the incumbent, Shrimati Anu Garg, vacates the post to take over as the first woman Chief Secretary of Odisha, signaling a new era of administrative synthesis and moral urgency in the state’s governance.
Shri Singh, who concurrently serves as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Government in the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, brings a wealth of systemic expertise to his new role.
His appointment is characterized by a multi-layered responsibility, as he will also oversee the Planning and Convergence Department. This consolidation of power is designed to address the socio-legal complexities of the state while ensuring a rigorous, evidence-based narrative for future growth.
