Singh Deo Demands Dental Hospital

Bolangir: Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Senior Lawmaker and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA for Bolangir, has urged the state government to expedite the establishment of a dental hospital in Bolangir.

Speaking as the Chief Guest on the final day of a state-level dentists’ conference held in Bolangir, Shri Singh Deo extended his thanks to the organising dentists and took the opportunity to highlight the critical need for advanced dental infrastructure in the region.

While acknowledging the state government’s proposal to set up a dental hospital in Bolangir, the MLA stressed the importance of swift implementation. “While there is a proposal from the state government to establish a dental hospital in Bolangir, I will request the state government to expedite its work as soon as possible,” said Shri Singh Deo.

The shortage of specialized dental facilities, which Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo addressed, means many people treat dental pain with over-the-counter remedies or traditional methods rather than seeking timely preventive or restorative treatment. This results in an increased rate of necessary tooth extractions.

Bolangir is among the districts in Odisha where the drinking water is known to have elevated levels of fluoride. This can lead to Dental Fluorosis, characterized by permanent discoloration (white, yellow, or brown spots) and pitting of the tooth enamel.

The overall challenge in Bolangir and surrounding regions is compounded by low oral health awareness, lack of accessibility to professional dental care, and a reliance on traditional ethnomedicinal remedies for cure instead of seeking prompt modern dental treatment.

His appeal underscores a push for better healthcare facilities and addresses the demand for specialized dental services in the Bolangir area. The MLA’s commitment is expected to bring greater focus and urgency to the project from the state administration.
