Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and Lawmaker Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo today appealed BJD’s youth wing leaders to come forward and work hard to bring reform and transformation in the State.
Addressing the youth BJD organisational body meeting here at Sankha Bhawan, Shri Singh Deo said, “For the first time during the last 24 years, we have lost an election. The way in which the BJP government is functioning, I am confident that we will win the upcoming panchayat election with a huge margin, if the youth force will remain with us.”
He appealed to the youth BJD leaders to work hard to take the party forward. “BJD is your party and you will bring reform in the state in coming days,” he stated.
Reminding the emergence of the BJD as a strong political force of Odisha, the Bolangir MLA said in 2009, the BJD has left the BJP because the party was trying to divide the state through Kandhamal riot.
At that time, the entire BJD leaders stood behind President Naveen Patnaik and later, BJD emerged as a strong political party in the State and the party won the election with full majority, he said.
“In 2019, after my defeat in the elections, I remained outside of the system. I have remained the District President of Bolangir for 12 years,” he pointed out.
To encourage the youth leaders of his party, Shri Singh Deo said, “Government is because of the party … .the party is not because of the government. If the party remains, a government can be formed. If you depend on the government to run the party, it will not work for a longer period.”
“Our party, our leader, many times, mistakes have been made by the party and also by the government. However, BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik always identified the mistakes and immediately made corrections,” he added.
BJD President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the meeting while several senior BJD leaders addressed the gathering of youth BJD functionaries.
