Show Of Singh Deos

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly today witnessed a rare moment when senior BJD Lawmaker Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo asked a question to his Uncle and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo about production of wind energy in the State.

During Question Hour, Kalikesh said the Government of India has set an ambitious target of achieving 500 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030, in which 140 GW will be produced from only wind energy and Odisha’s share will be 30 GW.

In Odisha, the renewable energy purchase obligation was 11.5 percent during 2022-23, which will be enhanced to 43.33 per cent by 2030, he said.

The State Government has so far approved a project for generating 392 MW. So, what plan has the Energy Department made to meet the ambitious target to be reached by 2030?, asked the BJD leader.

In a smiling face, Kanak Vardhan, who holds the Energy portfolio, said, “The previous BJD Government of his party has not taken any measures on renewable energy production. Now, the Mohan Majhi led BJP Government has started working on it and we will definitely meet the target set by the Centre.”

With this sweet question and answer conversation between the two royal scions of Bolangir has created a positive environment in the House with many MLAs seen enjoying it.

While Kalikesh is an ace Parliamentarian, Kanak Vardhan is a veteran Lawmaker having top credentials in handling Government Affairs.
