Sharma Opens Newspaper Exhibit

Bhubaneswar: The State-level National Press Day celebration today saw the inauguration of a newspaper exhibition at the local Jayadeva Bhawan by Additional Chief Secretary Industries, I & PR, Shri Hemant Sharma.

The exhibition, a treasure trove for media enthusiasts, showcases a total of 501 newspapers and periodicals, including 93 periodicals, 17 foreign newspapers, and 240 Odia dailies and old newspapers. Director I&PR Shri Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik was present in the Exhibition.

ACS Shri Hemant Sharma appreciated the News Paper Exhibition and he focused on the media’s crucial role in strengthening democracy. Shri Sharma has always been taken proactive stance on evolving the government’s Information Dissemination System.

Known for leveraging digital technology in his earlier roles, particularly in streamlining investment processes through digital platforms, Shri Sharma is also applying a similar approach to the Information & Public Relations Department.

The goal is to scale up the information dissemination system to the next level by ensuring the swift, accurate, and widespread release of government news and initiatives.

His vision aligns with the call for disseminating accurate news and promoting constructive criticism to enrich democracy.

He has always urged media representatives to operate with responsibility, stressing the need to verify the truth of every news item before bringing it to public discourse.

This proactive approach underscores the government’s commitment, under his leadership, to modernizing communication channels and ensuring transparency and accountability in information sharing.

The main observance of the State-level National Press Day was held in the conference hall of the Information and Public Relations Department, where guests emphasized the indispensable role of the media in a functioning democracy.
