Raipur, Chhattisgarh: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting on Left Wing Extremism in Raipur today, asserting that the country is on track to become completely Naxal-free before March 31, 2026. The session was attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, and top officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, including the Union Home Secretary and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau.
The meeting saw significant participation from neighboring states, with Home Secretaries and Directors General of Police from Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra in attendance. Representing Odisha, ACS Home Shri Hemant Sharma and DGP Shri Y B Khurania participated in the deliberations. The Home Minister highlighted that the security-centric strategy of the central and state governments, combined with aggressive strikes on Naxal financial networks and robust surrender policies, has yielded positive results.
Shri Amit Shah noted that Chhattisgarh, once a stronghold of Naxal violence, has transitioned into a symbol of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the youth of the state are now excelling in fields such as sports, forensic science, and technical education while maintaining their cultural heritage. The Home Minister called for seamless coordination between various state and central agencies to ensure that remaining insurgents are not permitted to flee across state borders.
In addition to security, the Home Minister reviewed various development projects, stating that residents in Naxal-affected areas must receive equal opportunities for progress. He also acknowledged the efforts of neighboring states, noting that Odisha is equally committed to eliminating the Maoist menace, with ADG Anti Naxal Operations Shri Sanjeeb Panda taking a forefront role in operational efforts. The Minister concluded by expressing confidence that the end of Naxalism will soon rescue future generations from the cycles of poverty and illiteracy.
