Bhubaneswar: Ahead of announcing dates for the much-talked Panchayat Polls, State Election Commissioner (SEC) Aditya Prasad Padhi on Monday met Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal to apprise him about preparedness made for the election.
Mr.Padhi met the Governor at Raj Bhawan and informed him about the preparedness made by the Commission for holding the General Elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The State Election Commissioner has also held a meeting with the DGP Sunil Bansal and Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home, Sanjeev Chopra to ensure a free and fair election.
Mr.Bansal, who very recently appointed new DGP, will have to ensure law & order situation and with strict enforcement of code of conduct.
Another major task of the DGP to ensure strict compliance of the Covid protocols as the State is witnessing high cases in the recent past.
This meeting of Mr.Padhi with the Governor, DGP and other senior officers indicates that the schedule for the election will be announced very soon, may be within day one or two.
Earlier in the day, the Commissioner held a meeting with the leaders from political parties and stated that guidelines will be issued soon for free, fair and safe elections.
