Bhubaneswar: The State government has decided to change the colour of school buildings to ‘Orange Tan-N’.
The Odisha State Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has issued an instruction to all Collectors in this regard.
The OSEPA has called on District Collectors to ensure compliance with this directive, emphasising the adoption of the specified colour during construction and renovation works.
This initiative reflects a broader effort to unify school appearances across the State, promoting a consistent educational environment, the OSEPA said.
The distinct shade, referred to as ‘Orange Tan-N’, marks a significant cultural symbolism in Indian society, with saffron historically associated with strength and courage, sources said.
The new colour will be applicable for all government schools including the PM-SHRI schools during construction, repair and renovation works.
Earlier, the new BJP government had changed the colour and design of uniforms for students of secondary schools by replacing white and green with light brown and maroon.
The State government had also earlier decided to colour all new government buildings in light orange like colour.
