Sriram Chandra Bhanj (SCB) Medical College and Hospital will turn into a World Class Health Care Instituion.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that his Government will spend Rs 3,500 crore for the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Mr.Patnaik chaired a High Level Review Meeting of the Mammoth Project here on 31 December. Secretary to CM VK Pandian moderated the discussion.
He has set the timeline and said that the World Class Facility will be inaugurated on 1 January, 2024.
State Government has the vision to transform the SCB Medical College and Hospital into an AIIMS Plus Health Care Institution, said Chief Minister.
Way back in 1944, SCB Medical College and Hospital was set up, which is serving the patients from Eastern India.
The mammoth project will come up in several phases and in the first phase, the Medical College and Hospital will have 3,500 beds which will be upgraded to 5,000 beds in Phase II.
The World Class Health Care Facility will be developed over 175 acres of land with ultra modern facilities for patients and doctors will be completed with a stipulated time.
It has been planned to construct 1,280 staff quarters for the employees and 2,200 Additional Hostel facilities for Medical Students.
Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik directed the officials to form an Independent Managing Committee for the World Class Heath Care Institution, said an official.

Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, ACS Health & Family Welfare Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Secretary Works, Krishan Kumar and other senior officials participated in the discussions.
