Satyabrata Sahu Gets Union Secretary Rank

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development for the State’s Administrative Echelons, Satyabrata Sahu, a distinguished officer of the 1991 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), has been successfully empaneled to hold the rank of Secretary in the Government of India.

Currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home, Forest & Environment Departments in Odisha, this empanelment marks a notable milestone in Shri Sahu’s illustrious career.

Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT) has notified his empanelment, highlighting the recognition of Shri Sahu’s extensive experience and proven track record in various administrative roles throughout his career, both in State and Union Government. His empanelment opens up opportunities for him to serve in key positions at the Central Government level.

Shri Sahu has held several crucial portfolios during his tenure in Odisha, demonstrating his versatility and leadership capabilities. Prior to his current role as ACS Home, he has served in departments such as Revenue and Disaster Management, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, and School and Mass Education, among others. His deep understanding of governance and his proactive approach to policy implementation have been widely acknowledged.

Colleagues and subordinates describe Shri Sahu as an efficient, energetic and dedicated administrator with a keen focus on citizen-centric governance. He is very decisive and works in a determined manner on developmental programs.

His tenure as the Special Relief Commissioner during several natural calamities in Odisha was particularly lauded for his effective coordination and timely response, which significantly mitigated the impact of these disasters.

The empanelment of a senior IAS officer from Odisha to the Union Secretary rank is seen as a matter of pride for the State’s Administrative Service. It not only acknowledges the caliber of officers nurtured within the State but also strengthens Odisha’s representation at the National level.
