Bhubaneswar: Shradhanand Affordable Treatment and Health Initiative (SATHI) has been launched in Odisha on 26 January.
SATHI, a purely nonprofit, charitable initiative opened its first outlet started at 171 (P) Maa Ghara, Bayababa Math Lane, Near Nicco Park, Unit-9, Bhubaneswar.
This will run as a pilot project with the ultimate vision to expand to other cities of state and country. The Center located at the heart of the city is consisting of medicine shop, waiting lounge (air conditioned), help desk, medical consultation chamber, basic amenities and ILPF State office.
ILPF (Indian Liver Patient Foundation) is a health based charitable organization of patients, doctors, philanthropists, volunteers and people from all walks of life who have come forward to assist in the overall effort towards reduction of liver diseases in particular, as well as to promote preventive and holistic health care.
This concept was the brain child of former Health Secretary of India P K Hota and Dr Ashok Choudhury and was supported by great technology tycoon and philanthropist Dan Mishra from Canada.
The good quality medicine of reputed brands will be available through SATHI outlets and the first one was inaugurated today by M Akshay, former DG Fire Services.
Guest of Honour Padmashree Prof Subrat Acharya highly praised this initiative by saying that this will reduce the health burden of an individual in a country like India, particularly when most were not insured and cannot afford the wellness services too.
Senior Officer Ajay Nayak, Social Activist Reena Routray and Suresh Kamani lauded the effort also thanked the reputed labs of city i.e. SRL, Genix and Nidaan coming forward to help the needy.
Gopal Dhal, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax and Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of Hochimin, Vietnam graced the occasion virtually and appreciated the efforts.
SATHI will be run by team of 35 doctors from all specialties, yoga professionals (Dr Dinesh and Dr Pratibhashree), nutrition consultants ( Sushree Sangeeta and Laxmipriya), physiotherapist ( Dr Anima, Dr Kiran and Dr Gopal), mindfulness practitioner Anindita for their free service and time despite their busy schedule for the society.
On the inaugural day the free clinic was conducted by Dr Ashok Choudhury and was smoothly organized by the in-charge Dr Susmita Behera.
Later Dan Mishra dedicated this facility of SATHI for public and overwhelmed by the love and affection of team ILPF. He mentioned his special thanks to Chairman Dr Bishnuriya Sahoo, project SATHI incharge Er Umakant Pani and the team. Col Swain, Prashant Mohanty, Chinmayee, Madhusmita, Rosy,Manoj, Bimal Dash, Bijay Khatua, Suryanarayan, Bibek coordinated the program well.
The program ended with invitation to you all for complete package of holistic heath to convert “Illness to Wellness”. With the blessings of the almighty and good wishes of our beneficiaries, in next five years SATHI should have its footprint in all towns and cities of Odisha as well as major medical hubs across the country, said K N Biswal.
