Sahu Takes Culture Charge

Bhubaneswar: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to Government of Odisha, Satyabrata Sahu on 1 November took charge of Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department.

Heads of various sections of the Department including Director of Culture Ranjan Kumar Das welcomed ACS Mr. Sahu to the Department.

“We all must love our Odia Language, Literature and Culture. For the development of Odisha, all have to work sincerely and focus on use of Odia language in all kinds of official communication and works,” Mr Sahu stressed while talking to the senior officials of the Department.   

After taking over the charge, ACS Mr.Sahu held a review meeting regarding the role and responsibilities of various sections of the Department and advised all the officers and employees to carry out their work with determination and sincerity.

He also directed the officials to complete the work on the same day it was assigned.

Mr Sahu sought cooperation of all officials to take the Department forward with the use of technology.

It was revealed during the meeting that the target was set to include 50,000 beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Kalakar Sahayata Yojana (MKSY), of which 34,000 beneficiaries are now receiving assistance through their bank accounts.

However, Mr. Sahu asked the officials to expedite the process to include the remaining 16,000 selected beneficiaries under the scheme as soon as possible. In the meeting, he was informed about the cultural team management system implemented in the Department.

The ACS also advised the officials to take steps for the development of various branches of the department viz., Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, Lalita Kala Akademi, Urdu Academy, State Museum, Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Odisha Sahitya Academy, Odisha Language Institute, Kalinga Art Gallery, Government Arts and Crafts College, Khalikot, Bibhuti Kanungo College of Arts and Crafts, Odisha State Archives, Harekrushna Mahatab State Library etc.

He also emphasized on the preservation of ancient heritage through the Odisha Endowment Commission.

ACS Mr. Sahu directed for immediate distribution of the books published by various authors, which could not be distributed since 2017 in view of Covid-19, to the public libraries.

He emphasized in the meeting that everyone should make joint efforts to make the work of the department more dynamic and maintain the reputation of the Department.

Among others, Additional Secretary of the Department Manswini Sahu, Joint Director Subodh Kumar Acharya and other heads of various sections under the Department were present in the meeting.

Notably, Mr. Sahu has taken additional charge as Additional Chief Administrative (ACS), Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department while holding the principal charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
