Bhubaneswar : Jal Mohasthav is being celebrated by Government of India under Jal Jeevan Mission starting from March 8 and ending on March 22 on World Water Day. Jal Arpan Diwas was celebrated in India on March 11. Under this background for Ensuring Safe Drinking Water for Tribal Communities
On 11 March 2026, a Community Based Solar Energized Iron Reduction Plant was handed over to the community of Guhah village under Kulurukumpa Panchayat in Daspalla Block of Nayagarh district. The programme was attended by the Block Development Officer and the Zilla Parishad President.

The initiative was facilitated under Water Advocacy Project of Jeevanrekha Parishad, with support from Care Today Fund, an initiative of the India Today Group, and technical guidance from Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar.
The plant reduces iron contamination in drinking water from 2.3 mg/L to 0.2 mg/L, significantly improving water quality and helping prevent kidney, stomach, and skin diseases. Through this community-led initiative, 55 tribal families now have access to safe drinking water, marking an important step toward sustainable water governance and improved public health.
