New Delhi: As Russia commemorates the 80th anniversary of its victory over Nazism, starting with grand celebrations slated for May 9th in Moscow, the nation is also gratefully acknowledging the significant contributions of an Indian hero: the revered legendary leader, Biju Patnaik.
The extraordinary tale of Biju Patnaik’s bravery and fortitude during World War II was brought to life today in a poignant reenactment at the Russian Embassy’s Russia House in New Delhi.
A grand ceremony unfolded at Russia House here this morning, specifically organized to honor Biju Babu’s pivotal role in the crucial Stalingrad campaign.
The event witnessed the presence of a distinguished guest: Biju Patnaik’s son and the President of the Biju Janata Dal, Naveen Patnaik. In a moving tribute, former Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Patnaik unveiled a memorial plaque dedicated to his father, in the esteemed presence of His Excellency Denis Alipov, the Ambassador of Russia to India.
Speaking on this significant occasion, Shri Patnaik eloquently stated, “The entire country takes immense pride in Biju Babu’s courage and valor.” He recounted how, during the Second World War, Biju Patnaik, as a skilled pilot, exhibited unparalleled bravery by providing essential weapons and supplies to the beleaguered Russian forces in Stalingrad.
Shri Patnaik emphasized that Biju Babu’s courageous actions were instrumental in facilitating Russia’s victory over the Nazi regime, thereby playing a crucial role in averting a global catastrophe.
“Biju Babu’s courage and unwavering commitment serve as a profound inspiration for generations to come,” Shri Patnaik affirmed.
