Bhubaneswar: Minister Sports,Tusharkanti Behera and ACS Revenue & Disaster Management and SRC Satyabrata Sahu andflagged off Mini Marathon to generate awareness on Disaster Management.
Odisha State Disaster Management Authority in association with Department of Sports and Youth Services today organized a Mini-Marathon here on the occasion of Odisha Disaster Preparedness Day.
The Mini-Marathon, which started at 7.30 AM organized under the theme “Stronger Community, Safer Odisha” was attended by more than 500 participants.
Those included the inmates of various sports hostels and students of hockey, shooting, swimming, athletics, weightlifting, etc. at Sports Hostel, Killing Stadium, Sports and Youth Services Department and OSDMA.The mini-marathon started from Gate No. 1 of the Kalinga Stadium and passed through Shastrinagar Street, 120 Battalion Street, Power House Street and reached the Raj Bhawan and returned to the Stadium.
The Marathon was organized with an aim to create awareness to build a Stronger Community, Safer Odisha to deal with various natural calamities through awareness and preparedness.
On this occasion, Sports Director Siddhartha Das, OSDMA Managing Director Gyan Ranjan Das and senior officers and staff of both the departments were present.
The State has been observing this day following devastation caused by the 1999 super cyclone that hit coastal Odisha on the same day.

On #OdishaDisasterPreparednessDay, pledge to further bolster our disaster resilient infrastructure and readiness to protect every precious life,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said in X.
