RP Koche Gets DG Rank

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development for India’s police leadership, R.P. Koche, a distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1993 batch from the Odisha cadre, has been empanelled for central deputation at the Director General (DG) Rank in Government of India. This marks a crucial elevation for Shri Koche, opening avenues for top-tier assignments within the Government of India.

Currently serving as the Director of Intelligence, Odisha, Shri Koche has a long and commendable record in law enforcement. His recent empanelment to DG-level positions at the Centre underscores his proven operational insight and leadership, particularly in sensitive intelligence matters. This recognition further strengthens Odisha’s representation in the nation’s highest security echelons.

Prior to his current role, Shri Koche held the position of Additional DGP, Special Armed Police (SAP), taking on the additional charge of Director of Intelligence in April 2022. He was also earlier empanelled to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG) in the Government of India, further showcasing his progressive career trajectory.

On 1 January, 2025, Shri Koche was promted to DGP Rank in Odisha Government.This promotion recognize the distinguished service of the Top Cop and his contributions to law enforcement in the state.

on 29 July, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of several IPS officers from the 1993 and 1994 batches for DG or DG-equivalent posts, with Shri Koche being among the prominent names.

This move is anticipated to bring seasoned leadership into various central security and administrative institutions, reflecting the government’s focus on enhancing national security capabilities.

Shri Koche’s expertise is expected to be vital, where he will likely contribute to strategic responsibilities in law enforcement and public administration.
