Bhubaneswar: The Opposition BJD today urged the BJP Government to take steps for controlling the price hike in essential daily consumed commodities and vegetables.
Addressing a press conference here, senior BJD leader Pramila Mallik said the new BJP Government should try to control the price hike at least in the vegetable and deliver good governance to the people of Odisha.
The concerned minister has recently said that he has no role to play in arresting vegetable price hikes. If the Government cannot control the price of vegetables, then who will do it”, she asked.
If the BJP Government will not take any steps to check the price of vegetables, the BJD will hit the street, warned the BJD leader.
Another women BJD leader Lekhashree Samantsinghar said the BJP government is trying to escape from its responsibility to control the price rise. It is the prime responsibility of the Government to ensure availability of all kinds of daily needs at a reasonable price so that every individual can consume it, she said.
The BJD leader further said that the Food Supply Minister has expressed his inability in this issue. The price of the essential items has been increased due to illegal hoarding. The Government should intervene and control it, they said.
