New Delhi: Ms. Ranjana Chopra, a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1994 batch from the Odisha cadre, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
This appointment is in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India, effective October 1, 2025.
Ms. Chopra, who currently serves as Special Secretary & Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Culture, will officially take over as Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs on October 31, 2025.
Her new role comes upon the superannuation of the incumbent Secretary, Shri Vibhu Nayar, an IAS officer of the 1990 batch from the Tamil Nadu cadre.
This key appointment underscores the government’s ongoing effort to strategically place experienced bureaucrats in pivotal roles to ensure a seamless transition and continuity in administration.
Ms. Chopra’s extensive background in various government departments is expected to provide strong leadership to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as it continues its crucial work on the development and welfare of tribal communities across the nation.
