Railways On Panchamrita Mode

Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways is implementing Climate Change Programs and Prime Minister’s Commitment at COP26 Summit.

Minister Railways, Communications and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw has said Indian Railways is implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Panchamrita’, the fivefold program on Climate Change.

He said a major part of the world’s commuters travelled on the Indian Railways. The Railways has decided to curb carbon intensity with timeline stipulated in five fold program on climate change of Prime Minister.

Mr.Vaishnaw was speaking at National Summit on Climate Change and Developing Resilience in Odisha organized by Nature Care Initiative here on 16 October. Union Minister appreciated efforts of NCI on Climate Change Action.

Minister Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Pradip Kumar Amat, Advocate General Ashok Kumar Parija and Rajya Sabha MP Sujeet Kumar also addressed the gathering.

Mr. Vaishnaw said PM Panchamrita plan involves to generate 500 GW power from renewable energy sources.

All energy requirement’s 50 percent will come from renewable energy and all Railway tracks will be electrified.

He said carbon emissions and carbon intensity to curb by 2030. And by 2070 there will be Zero Carbon Emission target

So far ‘Life Style For The Environment’ approach is concerned we have to keep nature in our daily life use.

During last 30 years Odisha has faced multiple natural disasters like flood, drought, cyclone and those are multifaceted risks of climate change
In Odisha Mangrove plays role of Blue Carbon and there is a growth of Mangroove coverage in the State.

He said that Odisha is the first state to get Green Funding for vulnerable Zones of the State.

Minister said recently CRUT initiative has been honored for its green initiative as it lessens carbon dioxide emissions

Ashok Parija Advocate General (AG) detailed out how world is affected by climate change and as to how Pakistan suffered worst floods.
He said Indian Ocean is hottest and it is wreaking havoc

Mr.Parija pointed out that Human induced climate change is affecting world and  Zero Life Loss is a great move by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Sujeet Kumar MP said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is a “Man of Nature”. He said that Odisha has adopted positive approach in  mitigating disasters and way back in 2010, Odisha initiated, which was path breaking exercise.

He expressed concern over Per Capita emission of 2.35 MT carbon dioxide, which is very high in Odisha
Mr.Kumar said as Odisha has gone for digital budget making process, it is saving lots of trees.
Odisha has Dedicated Green Climate Fund and 900 plus cyclone shelters with 90000 volunteers in the field level.

Srikant Sekhar Sahoo Chief Executive NCI presented details on the activities of the national Organization.

More than 200 Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) Representatives attended the National Summit, which discussed Climate Change Action at length.
