Rahul Alleges Adani Controls Odisha, Centre

Bhubaneswar: In a fiery address at a massive “Samvidhan Bachao Samavesh” (Save Constitution rally) in Bhubaneswar today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Governments, alleging that industrialist Gautam Adani is effectively controlling both the Odisha and the Narendra Modi-led Union Governments.

Shri Gandhi, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, claimed that “wherever you look in Odisha, there are only Adani’s posters. It appears Adani is running the government here.” He went further, suggesting that even the revered Puri Rath Jatra was halted to accommodate Adani and his family, an allegation that has sparked considerable controversy.

The Congress leader accused the present BJP government in Odisha of continuing the policies of the previous BJD regime, stating that both have been “looting the wealth of the poor” and “helping big companies, including Adani.” He asserted that while on one side stand the poor, including Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes, farmers, and labourers, on the other side are “five to six big companies and the BJP government,” emphasizing this as the core conflict. Shri Gandhi stated that only the Congress workers, in alliance with the people of Odisha, can win this fight for justice.

Beyond Odisha, Shri Gandhi extended his allegations to the national level, repeatedly stating that Adani has “hijacked the country” and that “India is in Adani’s grip.” He reiterated his long-standing claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “100% protecting Adani” and is involved in corruption with the industrialist.

Shri Gandhi linked this alleged nexus to the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, claiming that thousands of crores collected for the scheme were handed over to a few big companies while farmers affected by natural disasters received no compensation.

Rahul Gandhi also raised concerns about electoral integrity, alleging that attempts are being made to “hijack elections in Bihar” similar to what he claimed happened in Maharashtra, with the Election Commission of India (ECI) working as an agent for the BJP. He warned that the INDIA Bloc would resist any such attempts at election manipulation.

The rally, which also saw the participation of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, aimed to galvanize support for the Congress and highlight its narrative ahead of upcoming elections. Kharge, in his address, echoed Shri Gandhi’s sentiments, further alleging that the BJP is attempting to delist two crore voters in Bihar to manipulate the upcoming elections and is working to destroy the Indian Constitution.

This was Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Odisha after the BJP formed its maiden government in the state last year. His strong accusations have intensified the political discourse in Odisha, adding fuel to the ongoing electoral campaigns of both the BJP and Congress.
