Bhubaneswar: In what could be termed as ‘Puja Gift’ for the Government employees and pensioners, Odisha Government Friday announced a hike of 11 Percent in the Dearness Allowance (DA) with effect from 1 July, 2021.
This will be applicable to regular employees and pensioners, whose number would be 7.5 Lakhs in the state.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal in this regard. The rate of DA will now be enhanced to 28 Percent from the existing 17 Percent.
The employees will get the additional DA amount in their October salary. They will also receive three months arrear, a statement released by CMO said.
In another development the State Government also revised the Group Insurance Scheme, with the provision of more financial assistance for the employees, who died during the service period.
Now after revision, the employees up to the Grade Pay of Rs.4800 are entitled to get Rs.4 Lakh as Group Insurance in the event of their death.
Similarly the employees working in the Grade Pay of Rs.5400 and above to avail the Insurance amount of Rs.6 Lakh in the event of their death.
The employees in the Grade Pay of Rs.4800 were earlier paying Rs.7500 as Premium, which is now enhanced to Rs.20,000.
Similarly the employees at the Grade Pay of Rs.5400 and above are to pay Premium of Rs.30,000.
