Prez Opens Atithi Niwas

Bhubaneswar: President Smt. Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the ‘Kalinga Atithi Niwas,’ a newly constructed guesthouse inside the premises of the Odisha Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, marking a significant addition to the state’s VVIP accommodation facilities.

The new residence, whose name ‘Kalinga Atithi Niwas’ is a tribute to the ancient identity and rich culture of Odisha, is designed to reflect the state’s ancient art, culture, and tradition. It is intended to provide high-standard accommodation to visiting VVIPs and state guests, further reinforcing the state’s commitment to gracious hospitality.

The inauguration was held during the President’s two-day visit to her home state. She was received by Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, and other senior officials.

Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Union Ministers Shri Jual Oram and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, along with Minister for Works, Shri Prithiviraj Harichandan.

The President is scheduled to stay overnight at the newly inaugurated facility before her historic address to the Odisha Legislative Assembly, where she will become the first sitting President to speak from the Speaker’s podium.

The newly inaugurated ‘Kalinga Atithi Niwas’ is more than just a residence; it is a significant addition to the state’s official infrastructure, designed to reflect and enhance Odisha’s rich cultural legacy and renowned hospitality.

The new guesthouse enhances the Raj Bhavan’s capacity to host state guests, showcasing Odisha’s heritage through its design while fulfilling a key infrastructural requirement.

The guest house is intended to serve as a high-standard residence for visiting dignitaries, state guests, and officials. By providing an exclusive and well-appointed stay within the secured premises of the Raj Bhavan, it underscores the importance and respect accorded to these guests.
