Prep On Viksit Odisha Plan

Bhubaneswar: The First Meeting of the State level Steering Committee for preparation of the Vision Document “ViksitOdisha @ 2036 for Viksit Bharat @ 2047” was held at Lok Seva Bhawan on 21September.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Steering Committee and Chief Secretary, ManojAhuja.

Development Commissioner Anu Garg, ACS Home & Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Satyabrata Sahu, ACS, Steel and Mines Surendra Kumar,  Principal Secretaries and Secretaries who are also  members of various  Sectoral Groups of Secretaries participated in the discussion.

Stock taking of the First round meeting held by different 6 Sectoral Group of Secretaries was discussed in the Steering Committee meeting held.

Preliminary presentations on progress made so far by Sectoral Group of Secretaries working on thematic areas like, Economy, Industries and Infrastructure, Social & Human Development, Culture & Heritage, Technology and Innovation, Good Governance and Rural Transformation were discussed,  and suggestions  given for further development.

Chief Secretary Shri Ahuja has said that, the preparation of the Vision Document is a unique opportunity for us. This will have our priority and approach to prepare a realistic document in a much more disciplined manner, and for this; he sought the cooperation of all Sectoral Group of Secretaries.


Development Commissioner, Shrimati Garg, briefed about the progress of work of different Sectoral Group of Secretaries and suggested that the Vision Document should be in the context of ensuring regional balance and social and economic development of the State.

She has also suggested to follow international best practices in different sectors. The vision document should aim to be aspirational for a developed Odisha by 2036 to meet the national aspirations of developed India by 2047, she added.

It was agreed upon in the meeting that the Sectoral Groups of Secretaries and Steering Committee will obtain inputs from the citizens, civil society organizations, policymakers, academia, public intellectuals, think tanks, business, and industry leaders to prepare the Vision Document for different Sectoral Groups.

In addition to discussions, suggestions, and views through various means, the proposal to launch a web portal soon to obtain suggestions/ feedback from the public through digital platforms was also discussed.
