Bhubaneswar: With just over a week to go, preparations are in full swing at Kalinga Stadium as Odisha gears up to host its first-ever World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event on August 10, 2025.
Minister for Sports and Youth Services, Sri Suryabanshi Suraj, today visited the iconic stadium to personally review the progress and ensure all arrangements are in place for the prestigious international competition.
Accompanied by Secretary of Sports and Youth Services, Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, and other senior officials, the Minister conducted a thorough inspection of the venue, focusing on key areas such as athlete facilities, security, crowd management, and logistics.
During his visit, Minister Shri Suraj emphasized the importance of delivering a world-class experience for all participants and spectators. He directed officials to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every aspect of the event, from the sporting infrastructure to the hospitality, meets the highest international standards.
The World Athletics Continental Tour is the second-tier international series of track and field events, providing a vital platform for athletes to earn World Rankings points, which are crucial for qualifying for major championships. The Bronze-level event in Bhubaneswar will see over 200 athletes from 19 countries compete in 20 different track and field disciplines.
This event marks a significant milestone for Odisha, solidifying its reputation as a premier sporting hub in India. The state has previously hosted other major sporting events, including the 2017 Asian Athletics Championships, and is leveraging its experience to ensure a successful and memorable Continental Tour debut.
