Bhubaneswar: With the 79th Independence Day approaching, preparations are underway to ensure a grand and memorable celebration. A preparatory meeting, chaired by Shri Hemant Sharma Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Information and Public Relations Department was held today to outline the details of the festivities.
During the meeting, ACS Shri Sharma emphasized that since Independence Day is a national festival and a source of pride for all, meticulous attention must be given to every aspect of the celebration.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, will be the Chief Guest, hoisting the National Flag and receiving the salute at the combined parade on Mahatma Gandhi Marg. The Information and Public Relations Department will conduct a practice parade at the venue from August 11 to 13.
Discussions covered a wide range of arrangements for the August 15 event, including:
- Live broadcasting of the celebrations on TV and social media.
- Seating arrangements for distinguished guests, invited guests, and media representatives.
- Attractive decoration and beautification of the venue and the road from Raj Bhavan.
- A special morning prayer service.
The Chief Guest will award the best-performing parade teams from Republic Day-2025. Additionally, a special issue of Utkal Prasanga and Odisha Review will be released on the occasion.
Furthermore, it was announced that various Central and State Government buildings will be illuminated. The celebrations will extend to New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, as well as the RDC Zones, District, and Sub-Divisional levels.
The meeting saw the attendance of other key officials, including Divisional Director Shri Anuj Kumar Das Patnaik and Additional Secretary Smt. Bishnupriya Sahu, among others.
