Bhubaneswar: As the golden sun of March settles over the temple city of Bhubaneswar, there is a rhythmic cooling that takes place within the walls of Hotel Prachi. This year, Prachi’s Pakhala Week celebrations transformed from a seasonal tradition into a grand cultural confluence.
The atmosphere was charged with a sense of homecoming when Shri Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, NRAI Chief and Senior Lawmaker, joined to savor the simplicity of water rice. Seeing such a distinguished leader embrace the humble Pakhala reminded us all that true luxury often lies in our roots.
The grace of the occasion was further elevated by the presence of Political Veteran Shri Anang Udaya Singh Deo, making the week a true celebration of Odia lineage and culinary pride.

However, the magic of Pakhala transcends borders. One of the most heartwarming sights this season was a Sardarji experiencing his very first plate of water rice.
Watching a guest from the land of Five Rivers fall in love with the flavors of Coastal Odisha is why we do what we do. From the crunch of Badi Chura and the smoky comfort of Alu Bharta to the coastal treasures of Macha Bhaja and Chingudi Chhecha, every bite was a bridge between cultures.
The table was a symphony of tastes, featuring the tangy sweetness of Amba Khata alongside the rich, slow-cooked indulgence of Mutton Kasha and Chicken Bharta.
The crowning jewel of the experience remained the Tanka Torani. Served in a traditional Mati Handi, this fermented rice water infused with curd, lemon leaves, and ginger offers a grass-root touch that no modern beverage can replicate. It is the ultimate elixir for the Odia soul, cooling the body and sparking the spirit.

It was an honor for the entire Team Prachi, led by General Manager Shri Biplab Ganguly, to host esteemed guests who carry the heritage of our land in their very names.
At Hotel Prachi, we believe that food is more than just sustenance; it is a story told through the hands of our chefs and the smiles of our guests, said Shri Ganguly.
This Pakhala Week at Hotel Prachi has shown that whether you are a local leader or a first-time traveler, the magic of a clay pot and fermented rice is universal.
