Bhubaneswar: After making an extensive field visit of Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, his Deputies and Ministers to assess crop damaged due to unseasonal rainfall, the State Government today announced extension of the deadline till January 1 for farmers to submit the report to make claim for compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made the announcement after the State government’s demand in this regard was accepted by the Centre. He said farmers can now report and claim compensation over crop loss till midnight of January 1.
The deadline has been extended by another day from December 29 to December 30 and now till January 1.
The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Ministers, K V Singh Deo & Pravati Parida and other ministers had visited different rain-affected districts yesterday and held discussions with the affected farmers.
Later, the State government had requested the Centre to extend time for the farmers to report crop loss.
Keeping in view the interests of the farmers, the central government has extended the time. Farmers can now inform the insurance companies about the crop loss till January 1, 2025, officials said.
“The Union government has extended the dates of registration only for Odisha. The affected farmers can do the registration till midnight on January 1. By dialing 1447 even missed calls, farmers can register themselves. Our government is committed to the welfare of the farmers in the State,” said Deputy CM Smt.Parida.
The CM had earlier announced that farmers, those covered under the PMFBY and uninsured will get assistance from the government, as there has been extensive damage to standing paddy and other crops.
