New Delhi: India’s economic success is built on the philosophy of “Reform, Perform, and Transform,” according to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has announced the start of a new phase of next-generation reforms.
A key part of this strategy is the next phase of the India Semiconductor Mission , which aims to create a complete domestic ecosystem for designing, manufacturing, and packaging semiconductors.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India’s goal is to become a global hub for semiconductor technology. This isn’t just about manufacturing; it’s about building an entire ecosystem that spans from design to high-tech device creation. The mission focuses on creating a “Made in India, Designed in India, Trusted by the World” brand.

India’s policies are being structured as long-term commitments to attract and support investors. The Prime Minister’s phrase, “the design is ready, the mask is aligned. Now is the time to execute with precision, and deliver at scale,” highlights the nation’s readiness to move from planning to large-scale production.
To support the semiconductor industry, India is also focusing on the National Critical Mineral Mission. These minerals are the foundation of digital infrastructure, much like steel is for physical infrastructure. By working to meet its own demand for rare minerals, India aims to reduce its reliance on imports and secure its supply chain.
States are playing a crucial role in this national effort. Many, including Odisha, are developing special policies and infrastructure to attract investment in the semiconductor sector. The Prime Minister encouraged a “healthy competition” among states to enhance their investment environments and develop a robust semiconductor ecosystem.
Odisha’s Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, was noted as being in attendance at the meeting, signaling the state’s commitment. . Minister Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & IT, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw graced the occasion.
Shri Vaishnaw presented 3 semiconductors produced in Odisha to Prime Minister Shri Modi.
