PM Praises Koraput Coffee

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in the latest edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, lauded the indigenous Koraput Coffee from Odisha, describing it as “truly delectable” and a “pride of Odisha.” The Prime Minister dedicated a segment to the growing significance of Indian coffee, noting its rising global popularity.

The Prime Minister shared that his attention was drawn to Koraput coffee after many people from Odisha wrote to him, urging him to discuss it on the program. “I have been told that Koraput coffee tastes amazing, and not only that; besides the taste, coffee cultivation is also benefiting people,” PM Modi said.

PM Shri Modi highlighted inspirational stories from the Koraput region, where individuals have left lucrative corporate jobs to pursue their passion for coffee cultivation, now finding success in the field. He also specifically praised the transformative impact of coffee cultivation on women in the area.

“There also are many women whose lives have been pleasantly transformed by coffee. They have gained both respect and prosperity through coffee,” he stated.

The Prime Minister concluded the segment with a quote in Hindi, emphasizing the coffee’s quality and regional pride:

“कोरापुट कॉफी अत्यंत सुस्वादु | एहा ओडिशार गौरव |” (i.e., Koraput Coffee is truly delectable! This indeed is a pride of Odisha.)

Before focusing on Koraput, the Prime Minister recalled his previous mention of another regional brew, stating, “You may recall, last year we talked about Araku coffee in ‘Mann Ki Baat’.”
