PM Modi: Odisha’s First-Year Salute

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on June 20 to participate in the grand celebrations marking the first anniversary of the BJP government in the state, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The visit underscores the central government’s significant focus on Odisha, following the historic mandate that brought the BJP to power for the first time in the state.

While the official anniversary of the Mohan Majhi government falls on June 12, the main celebratory event has been rescheduled to accommodate the Prime Minister’s availability.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari confirmed the revised date on Saturday, stating that the final program schedule for the June 12-20 period will be released shortly, with the specific venue for the June 20 main event still being finalized.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had personally extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda during his recent visit to New Delhi.

The Prime Minister’s presence is expected to be a major highlight, lending significant weight to the state government’s achievements in its inaugural year.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s sixth trip to Odisha since the Mohan Majhi government assumed office, signaling the strategic importance of the state in the BJP’s national agenda.

During the celebrations, the state government is expected to present its first-year report card, highlighting key initiatives such as the Rs 800 bonus per quintal of paddy and the “Subhadra” cash incentive scheme, which provides Rs 5,000 annually to approximately one crore women.

The anniversary celebrations are planned to span from June 12 to June 20, with various programs, including district-level events, press conferences by the Chief Minister, and discussions with intellectuals.

A Vision document for 2036 and 2047, outlining the state’s aspiration to become a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047 and $500 billion by 2036, is also expected to be unveiled.

Prime Minister Shri Modi’s participation is anticipated to energize party workers across the state and further strengthen the coordination between the state and central governments, as Odisha embarks on a new chapter under BJP governance.
