Pilot Training For Tribal Youths

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to give wings to the tribal youths, the State Government has decided to undertake a special initiative to get at least 50 tribal students ready to became commercial pilots.

The Commerce and Transport Department has chalked out a detail progarmme in this regard, an official said.

The Department will shortlist 300 eligible tribal candidates from across the State and from them, 50 students will be selected by conducting aptitude tests and personnel interviews, giving orientation classes, he said.

The Department has decided to hire a Professional Training Agency for preliminary screening and Preparatory Training for shortlisted students from the tribal community of the State at a designated place provided by the Department in Bhubaneswar for 8 weeks, covering all selection parameters of Airline Cadet Pilot Assessment and Program.

The selected Agency will conduct preliminary screening and Preparatory Training at a designated place in Bhubaneswar, apart from identifying and shortlisting the eligible students from the Tribal Community.

The Preparatory training course is aimed at preparing the candidates with adequate knowledge to clear the Cadet Pilot Assessment and at the same time prepare for the basic foundation program for DGCA CPL IR (A) syllabus and prepare them to understand the flying training course as per the established syllabus, the officer said.

As per plan, the government will provide different types of training to the selected 50 tribal students like basic English training, personal development, self improvement & grooming, aviation English language proficiency training, basic aviation knowledge, human performance & limitations, aptitude & psychometric tests, group discussion & interview preparation, portable simulator training for hand-eye foot coordination, spatial orientation etc.

The private agency will provide training within a period of 8 weeks, with an average teaching schedule of 6 hours/day, five days in a week including self supervised studies, computer based training, mock examinations etc., the officials said

Regular assessments on completion of each module will be done and special training will be provided for the weak students during weekends, they said.

After completion of the basic knowledge training, the 50 students will sit for the final round of selection by two private airlines, Air India and Indigo. They will again shortlist top 10 students through their test and provide them technical training to make them professional pilots.
