Bhubaneswar: Veteran BJD leader and former Minister Badri Narayan Patra today rejected the notions of a possible coalition between the BJD and Congress to form government in the State.
Speaking to media persons, Shri Patra strongly dismissed such claims made by certain leaders of his own party and said such ideas were unrealistic. He said the BJP has got the mandate and is ruling the State.
The senior leader also wanted to know whether these leaders who are making claims about BJD coming back to power with Congress help have been authorised by party president Naveen Patnaik to make such statements.
The senior leader voiced criticism against some party members, accusing them of arrogance and confusion amidst growing external critique.
Stating that BJD has been maintaining equal distance from both BJP and Congress, Shri Patra said the BJD would not go for any alliance with Congress.
“We were never with Congress and we never will. BJD also have no connection with BJP. We have always maintained distance from them. I don’t know who is spreading such rumours and creating confusion through such unrealistic utterances,” the former Minister said.
Notably, some senior BJD leaders including Munna Khan, Debashish Samantaray, and Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, had recently claimed that BJD would return to power with the help of Congress.
