Padhee Asks Crop Damage Report

Bhubaneswar: With the Cyclone Dana weakened into a deep depression after causing damages to Crops, the State Government is now geared up to assess the damages caused by the natural disaster.

Dr.Arabinda Padhee, Principal Secretary Agriculture and  Farmers’ Empowerment has directed officials to assess and enumerate the Crop Loss.

Dr.Padhee, who swung into action immediately aftermath Cyclone Dana adversely impacted the Crop Areas in some of the Coastal Districts.

As per Preliminary Reports, the Crop Areas likely to be affected by Cyclone Dana is about 1,75,000 Acres (69,995 Hectares).

Eye-Estimated Submerged Crop Areas are about 2,80,000 Acres(1,12,310 Hectares).

Dr.Padhee has directed Field Officials of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment to go for Joint Inspection with the Officials of Department of Revenue.

Dr.Padhee has said they should take in a Squad Approach. while assessing and enumerating the Crop Loss under the supervision of the District Collectors.

In the meantime Revenue Minister has urged to the officials to start damage assessment from 26 October and present the Report within a week.
