Bhubaneswar: Ahead of launching of BJP Government’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida today launched the Subhadra Swagat Pada Jatra across all revenue villages in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi joined the Ceremony.
Over 10,000 Pada Jatras are being held in different parts of the State to promote the scheme aimed at empowering women, Shrimati Parida said.
The Pada Jatra was organized in every gram Panchayat of the State as a part of an awareness campaign among the women about the scheme.
More than 60 lakh women have already registered their names for Subhadra Yojana and all will receive the first installment of Rs 5000 each on September 17, Parida informed.
On a testing-basis, the State Government today transferred one rupee to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), she said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said all the applicants who will apply after September 17 will also get the money. There is no need to panic. The scheme will continue till the last beneficiary gets the amount credited to her bank account, she added.
She also advised all the applicants not to worry and apply as soon as possible as the government has decided to include more than 1 crore women under the scheme for its empowerment , Parida said.
She was confident that the women beneficiaries will not misuse the money and utilize it for their empowerment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Subhadra Yojana on September 17 at a function to be held at Janata Maidan which will be attended by thousands of women from across the State.
All women in the age group of 21 to 60 years in the state will be covered under the scheme.
Under the scheme, the eligible women will get Rs.5000 each in two installments every year for a period of five years. The State Government has already made a budgetary provision of Rs 10,000 crore for the scheme in the 2024-25 annual budget.
The money will be credited to the bank accounts of the women beneficiaries every year on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and on International Women’s Day.
