Puri: The inventory process of the remaining jewelry and precious ornaments stored in the Outer Ratna Bhandara of the Shree Jagannath Temple reached its conclusion on Saturday, April 11, 2026. This vital task, part of the second phase and fourth day of operations, was conducted under strict security and in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) approved by the State Government, ensuring that the ancient traditions of the temple remained unblemished.
The day began with authorized members gathering at the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) headquarters. Led by Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee and Justice Biswanath Rath, Chairman of the High-Level Committee, the delegation included the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, senior officials, and members of the Chhatisa Nijog and Ratna Bhandara Sub-committee. The team entered the temple premises at 10:41 AM after a formal briefing at the office.
Before entering the sacred treasury, all members donned traditional attire as a mark of reverence. SJTA Chief, Dr. Padhee addressed the team, emphasizing the sanctity of the mission and the need for complete devotion. He noted that at the request of the Bhandara Mekap, certain textile items stored near the entrance were moved into new wardrobes to clear the passage toward the Inner Ratna Bhandara for future phases. After seeking blessings from the presiding deities of the peripheral shrines and undergoing mandatory security checks via metal detectors, the doors of the Ratna Bhandara were opened at 11:30 AM in the presence of a Magistrate.
The inventory process was meticulous. Gemologists, goldsmiths, and weights and measures officials carefully examined each item provided by the Bhandara Mekap. To ensure a permanent and transparent record, the administration employed modern technology including photography, videography, 3D scanning, and the creation of an E-Catalogue. Although the task was time-consuming, the unwavering dedication of the members ensured that every piece of jewelry was scrutinized and documented as per the guidelines.
By early evening, the counting of all ornaments in the Outer Ratna Bhandara was successfully completed. The treasury doors were closed and sealed at 6:35 PM. All digital data chips containing the recordings and documentation were securely placed in the temple’s strong room under judicial supervision.
Chief Administrator, SJTA, Dr. Arabinda Padhee expressed his profound gratitude to the servitors, administrative officials, and the devotee community for their cooperation. He noted that the success of this phase, conducted without disrupting the daily rituals of Lord Jagannath or the darshan for devotees, was a testament to the divine grace of the Lord and the collective effort of all stakeholders.
