Rourkela: Following directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), one Pakistani national has left Bhubaneswar for Pakistan. DGP YB Khurania informed the media men here, that this action is part of a larger effort concerning Pakistani nationals residing in Odisha.
DGP Shri Khurania stated that a total of 12 Pakistani nationals were identified in Odisha, and “Quit India” notices were issued to them. One individual has since departed.
“We are waiting for further instructions on Pakistanis who are residing on long-term VISA or whose applications are under consideration,” Shri Khurania said.
Sources indicate that the Pakistani national who left was a woman who had been living in Bhubaneswar since 2008, having married an Indian man. She reportedly left for Pakistan after receiving a notice from the police. Her application for a visa extension was denied by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
This action follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive on April 24, urging Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to identify all Pakistani nationals in Odisha and ensure their return to Pakistan by April 27.
The departure of this individual is occurring amidst heightened tensions following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, including civilians and tourists, were killed.
Reports indicate that nearly 700 Pakistani nationals have left India through the Attari-Wagah border crossing since Thursday.
