Bhubaneswar: In a significant development for both consumers and milk producers in the state, Omfed today launched three new products while simultaneously announcing an increase in the price paid to its milk producers.
The announcements were made by the Chief Minister, who expressed joy over the new initiatives aimed at benefiting various stakeholders.
The newly launched products, designed to cater to the interests of consumers, include:
- Balti Dahi
- Desi Cow Ghee, made from the milk of Odisha’s indigenous Binjharpuri cows
- A2 Milk, also sourced from the Binjharpuri cow breed
A major highlight of the announcement is the government’s decision to provide an additional price of Rs 3 per liter to Omfed milk producers starting today. This move is expected to directly benefit approximately 2.5 lakh cowherds across the state, providing a boost to their livelihoods.
While the price for milk producers is increasing, the government has also committed to bearing Rs 2 per liter of the total Rs 4 per liter increase for consumers. This measure aims to mitigate the impact of the price adjustment on the end-users, ensuring that the burden on consumers is lessened.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these steps reflect the government’s commitment to supporting the state’s dairy farmers while also ensuring the availability of quality products for consumers.
