OMBADC Funds Utilization Rise

Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary and Chairman OMBADC Pradeep Kumar Jena has advised OMBADC to get the Sustainability Plan prepared for all OMBADC funded projects to ensure their functioning after closing of OMBADC operations.

Chairing the 27th Board of Directors Meeting of Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) held here on 30 November, Chief Secretary Shri Jena was happy with the performance on OMBADC.

Senior IFS Officer, G Rajesh CEO OMBADC outlined the details on the projects being implemented across the State.

Shri Rajesh, CEO OMBADC informed the Board Members about the progress of work done in various sectors by OMBADC. He is proactively and regularly monitoring the project implementation, said official sources.

The works are currently being undertaken with support of Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, School & Mass Education, Housing & Urban Development, Rural Development, Skill Development & Technical Education and Farmers & Animal Resources Development departments.

CEO OMBADC, Shri Rajesh informed that till October, 2023, the Board has approved 60 Projects under different sectors amounting to more than Rs. 18,000 Crore from the total collection of Rs. 20,700 Crore till Oct 2023.

The 18 Line departments have successfully utilized 72% of the released amount which stands at Rs. 10,868 Crore.

 Departments who have utilized more than 60% of the released amount are – Panchayati Raj &Drinking Water (84%), School & Mass Education (63%), Housing & Urban Development (93%), Rural Development (84%), Skill Development &technical Education (72%) and Farmers & Animal Resources Development (73%).

 Additionally, eight new proposals pertaining to rural connectivity and Skill development sectors were also discussed in detail in the Board Meeting.

Those include 08 new proposals worth Rs. 96 Crore were also placed before the Board members by the CEO, OMBADC which were related to Construction of roads in Morada constituency of Mayurbhanj, construction of one bridge over Bhandan River under Simlipal forest and 06  proposals related to technology upgradation and placement of trained youth in Government ITI and Polytechnics spread across 08 mining districts supported by OMBADC.All the projects recommended by the Sub Committee of OMBADC were discussed in detail in the meeting.

Development Commissioner, Anu Garg, and other Directors attended the meeting physically and as well as through VC mode.

The Board was also appraised about some of the major achievements of OMBADC in the Housing, Drinking Water, Education, Health & Women Empowerment sectors. The completion of Impact assessment  of Adhoc CAMPA funded Housing and Drinking water projects was also informed to the Board members.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Secretary cum Chairman OMBADC, Shri Jena released the Annual Report of OMBADC for the FY 2022-23, Brochures developed by OMBADC and documentary videos related to OMBADC funded projects like Skill Development, Education etc.

The revamped Website of OMBADC was also launched by the Chairman. 

Among others present in the meeting were; Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Sushil Kumar Lohani, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and HoFF, Debidutta Biswal, senior officials of OMBADC and other officials from various departments.
