Bhubaneswar: The Orissa Kennel Club is set to transform the regional canine landscape this weekend as it hosts a massive triple-header of national championship dog shows at the OUAT Veterinary College grounds.
Under the leadership of President Shri Subrat Prusty and Secretary Siddhartha Mohanty, the club has reached a historic milestone with over 300 entries and a first-of-its-kind medical partnership that sets a new standard for kennel club operations in India.
The German Shepherd Dog Confederation (Kalinga Chapters) GSD Specialty Show will be inaugurated on 19th December 2025, at 10:00 AM by Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor, Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar. This show will be judged by Mr. Jochen Prall, SV Judge from Germany.
The Dr. S. K. Ray Memorial All Breeds Show, scheduled for 20th December 2025, will be judged by Dr. Elena Matveeva (Russia). The Obedience Trials will be judged by Shri C. R. Patnaik, and this show will be inaugurated by Dr. Susen Kumar Panda, Dean, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, OUAT on 20th December 2025 at 10 AМ.
Shri Mohanty has been instrumental in expanding the scope of the 67th, 68th, and 69th All Breeds All India Level Championship Dog Shows. The 67th & 68th All Breeds Championship Dog Shows will be inaugurated by Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, Hon’ble Minister of Law, Works & Excise, Government of Odisha, on 21st December 2025 at 10:00 AM.
Shri Mohanty’s efforts have secured a prestigious judging panel of international experts, including SV Judge Jochen Prall from Germany and Russian FCI judges Dr. Elena Matveeva, Mr. Igor Vyguzov, and Mr. Oleg Vasilyev. This high level of adjudication ensures that the 30-plus breeds competing on December 20 and 21 will be evaluated against the strictest global standards.
Beyond the competitive ring, Shri Mohanty has prioritized safety and public education through a landmark collaboration with the NSS Wing of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. This initiative ensures a dedicated medical presence for all three days of the event, including the GSD Specialty starting December 19.
The Secretary Shri Mohanty emphasized that the inclusion of NSS volunteers to conduct Rabies awareness sessions is a unique preparedness effort that distinguishes this year’s show from any other in the country.
The club’s global footprint has also expanded under Shri Mohanty’s guidance. By partnering with Our Dogs Inc. for worldwide live streaming, the Orissa Kennel Club is bringing international visibility to Bhubaneswar’s purebred dog community. This digital leap, combined with the traditional Obedience Trials and specialty shows, cements the club’s thirty-year legacy as the premier KCI-affiliated organization in Odisha.
