Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to play a pivotal role in Indian sports history as it has been chosen to host the landmark edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25.
For the first time, the prestigious league will feature both men’s and women’s teams, marking a significant step towards gender equality in sports. The tournament will be held from December 28, 2024 to February 1, 2025, with Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela serving as the venue for the Men’s HIL.
Adding to the excitement, there are two teams from Odisha who will proudly represent the state in this edition. While the men’s team will be owned by Vedanta Limited the women’s team will be owned by Navoyam Sports Ventures Pvt Ltd. Both teams are set to inspire local hockey enthusiasts and bring glory to Odisha.
