Odisha Steps Up Global Trade

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to the state’s export ecosystem, the Department of MSME, Government of Odisha, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Basic Chemicals, Cosmetics & Dyes Export Promotion Council (CHEMEXCIL). The pact aims to drive export-oriented industrial development, enhance MSME competitiveness, facilitate capacity building, and strengthen international market access for state-based enterprises.

Speaking at the event, Shrimati Rashmita Panda, Secretary, MSME, who was felicitated during the programme, emphasized that the state government is making concerted efforts to promote exports and is moving steadily in the right direction. The collaboration is anticipated to unlock fresh opportunities for entrepreneurs, attract vital investments, and expand Odisha’s overall footprint in global trade.

Captain of Industry, Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Director of UCCIL and CMD of the MGM Group graced the occasion and felicitated Shrimati Rashmita Panda on behalf of UCCIL.

Furthering this momentum, a second Memorandum of Understanding was signed between CHEMEXCIL and the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd (UCCIL). This agreement focuses on organizing collaborative workshops, seminars, networking and advocacy initiatives, capacity-building programs, and exposure visits. Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, Director of UCCIL and CMD of the MGM Group, signed the document on behalf of the industry body.

Director UCCIL, Shri Mohanty highlighted that the Department of MSME and the Export Promotion Directorate are actively supporting more than 600 UCCIL members to scale their international operations. He specifically pointed out that Kedwa oil exports hold immense untapped potential for the region.

The event also featured an intensive workshop packed with technical sessions designed to build export readiness. Experts guided local entrepreneurs through international trade procedures, export incentives, Free Trade Agreements, and the ongoing District Export Hub initiatives. Additional discussions focused heavily on manufacturing opportunities within the high-potential essential oils and fragrance sector, alongside practical navigation of export documentation and compliance requirements required to scale up global operations.
