Bhubaneswar: On January 5, 2026, a high-level strategic meeting was convened at the Lok Seva Bhawan conference hall in Bhubaneswar, bringing together the CEO of NITI Aayog, Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, and the Chief Secretary of Odisha, Smt. Anu Garg.
The dialogue centered on a systemic synthesis of the long-term development perspectives for both the state and the nation, specifically focusing on the actionable targets outlined in the Viksit Odisha 2036 and the broader Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
This collaborative session, which included senior officials from various state departments and NITI Aayog experts participating via virtual platforms, underscored a shared commitment to building a sustainable, inclusive, and innovation-led prosperous state.
A primary focus of the deliberations was the acceleration of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri-Paradip-Cuttack Economic Region (BCPPER). Officials emphasized the socio-legal and economic necessity of developing this zone into a primary integrated urban and economic growth hub. To ensure long-term regional stability and moral urgency in poverty alleviation, the meeting prioritized the socio-economic empowerment of tribal communities through the value-added processing of forest products such as Sal seeds. Furthermore, to meet the labor demands of modern industry, a systemic mandate was established to integrate skill-based training within educational institutions, beginning at the school level.
The synthesis of energy policy was also a critical agenda item, with discussions focusing on the transition to clean, affordable, and sustainable renewable energy sources.
This aligns with an existing memorandum of understanding between NITI Aayog and the ISEG Foundation, which presented observations on implementing cost-effective energy solutions. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the role of the NITI Frontier Tech Hub in accelerating national progress through research and innovation.
Addressing public health with evidence-based precision, a special presentation was made regarding the Living Lab program. This initiative utilizes behavioral insights to implement practical measures aimed at eradicating malnutrition among pregnant women and children.
By reinforcing coordination between state and central agencies, the administration aims to leverage technology and research as the foundation for modern governance and sustainable development in Odisha.
