Bhubaneswar: The State Crisis Management Group held a high-level meeting in Bhubaneswar on March 26, 2026, to review the supply and availability of essential fuels including cooking gas, petrol, and diesel across Odisha.
Chaired by Chief Secretary Anu Garg at the Lok Seva Bhawan, the session focused on evaluating current stock levels and preparing for future requirements. During the meeting, officials emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of fuel supplies to ensure stability.
To address concerns regarding irregular supply and black marketing, the Principal Secretary Food, Supply and Consumer Welfare, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh clarified that there is currently no shortage of LPG for domestic consumers.
Principal Secretary, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Shri Singh confirmed that enforcement raids and strict legal actions are ongoing and LPG hoarders are taken to task.
A major point of discussion was the promotion of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to reduce reliance on traditional cylinders. While commercial LPG supply to hotels and restaurants has seen an increase, the government advised establishments with dual capabilities to prioritize PNG usage.
The state is also looking toward long-term solutions by accelerating the development of Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure to decrease dependence on petrol and diesel.
The Director General of Police noted that adequate police forces have been deployed to maintain order. To prevent public panic, the Chief Secretary directed that timely and accurate information be shared with the citizens.
Moving forward, the State Crisis Management Group will meet every two to three days to monitor the situation, and similar review meetings will be conducted regularly at the district level.
