Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that Yoga has played an important role in building a new Odisha and a healthy Odisha.
Chief Minister Shri Majhi said that efforts will be made to take the efforts started to build a healthy society through yoga to all levels of the society.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the International Yoga Day function held at Kalinga Stadium here on 21 June.
Yoga was practiced for more than half an hour at the event. The theme of this year’s yoga was ‘Yoga for oneself and Yoga for society’.
More than a thousand people, officials, sports persons, students attended and practiced yoga. Sports Minister Suryawanshi Suraj, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena and other high-ranking officials were present on the occasion.
The program has also been organised in districts, subdivisions, blocks and other important places of the state. Ministers, MPs, MLAs attended the function.
The Chief Minister said that in the modern era, everyone is under pressure. Through yoga, this stress can be overcome by maintaining balance and harmony between the body and mind and building a healthy society. We can achieve a healthy and beautiful life by adopting Yoga in our daily lives.
Not just this one day, we all need to commit ourselves to continuing to practice Yoga as an integral part of daily life, he said. “Let us all take a pledge for a healthy, happy and balanced society,” he said.
In his address, he highly praised the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for the International Day of Yoga. He said that due to the efforts of the Prime Minister, since 2015, The International Day of Yoga has been celebrated internationally under the auspices of the United Nations. He said that the greatness of yoga has spread all over the world today.
He expressed happiness over the fact that such a grand and divine yoga event has been held for the first time since the new government came to power and thanked the sports department as well as various concerned departments. He said that everyone has worked diligently.
